T.R. Miller completed the 2016 season with a 8-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region one, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. T.R. Miller's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Wicksburg by a score of 34-28. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, T.R. Miller has gone a combined 67-18. Their 79.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 3A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, T.R. Miller has gone a combined 280-60. Their 82.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class 3A and 2nd in the AHSAA. The Tigers have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 2007. The Tigers are led by head coach Andrew Thomas who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 8-3 record in his first season at T.R. Miller. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Thomas. Coach Thomas' overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 8-3 (72.7%). The T.R. Miller Tigers will play in Class 3A region one during the 2017 season. The Tigers should be considered one of the favorites for the region one championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1983 and expect to be included again when November rolls around. The Tigers open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Opp on Friday, September 1 at Channell Lee Field. Last year the Opp Bobcats finished with an overall record of 9-2 and in first place in Class 3A region two. The Bobcats lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs to Hillcrest Evergreen by a score of 28-25. T.R. Miller and Opp have met a total of 35 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 21-14-0 record against the Bobcats. They last met in 2016 with Opp winning by a score of 30-20. T.R. Miller returns 3A All-State Senior offensive lineman Chris Noble.
